GW Trip to Shizuoka (2th - 5th May, 2023)

My family always goes on a trip during Golden Week every year, but there was no trip this year because my son is in the third year of junior high school and is taking exams this year. So I decided to go back to Shizuoka by myself.

This time, I decided to return from Osaka to Shizuoka by late-night bus, but it was quite a hard trip. The bus left Umeda around 22:00, and although it was relatively comfortable with three rows of seats, perhaps because the bus was old, the vibrations of the car were loud, and every time it ran on the road, the seats rattled. It was a trip like a test of endurance. Even so, I could sleep for about two or three hours, but after arriving in Shizuoka around 6:00 in the morning, I slept until noon at my parents' house.

The next day (May 4th), I planned to eat Shizuoka oden for lunch and then watched a movie. This time, I decided to visit Kadoya Takinami Shoten for the first time in a while. As far as I know, this is the cheapest Oden restaurant in Shizuoka, but due to inflation, the price of one Oden was raised to 100 yen, but it's still pretty cheap. When I went there a few years ago, it was about 70 yen per stick.

The weather was very nice that day, and it felt good to take a walk through the streets from Sengen Shrine to the movie theater via Sumpu Castle.

There wasn't a movie I wanted to see at any of the major roadshows, but when I searched on the internet, I found out that there was a masterpiece theater in Shizuoka, so I decided to go there and watch a movie. Among the movies shown at the Shizuoka Cine Gallery movie theater, I was interested in the movie TORI et ROKITA this time, so I watched it. It was a very good movie and I was very moved, but the story was too sad.

On May 8, the coronavirus will move to Category 5, and wearing a mask was an individual decision, and the bustle of people was returning to the city. Shizuoka's shopping area, Gofuku-chou Shopping Street, was also bustling with people, and the café was almost full, so it was difficult to find a place to rest, but I finally found Doutor Coffee and took a short break. After that, I moved by bus, joined my father at a mobile phone store near my parents' house, changed the smartphone model, and ended the day.

On the last day, I went to a mobile shop to buy a new smartphone case and taught my parents how to use it. And for lunch, I went to the usual shoan, ordered the standard menu of sakura shrimp kakiage rice bowl and Shizuoka Oden. The shoan kakiage rice bowl has crispy fried kakiage and has a good texture and is very delicious, but it seems that the taste differs slightly depending on the store. Although the taste is a little lower than the best Shoan restaurant, it was still very good.

On the way to my home, I ate ramen at Kyoto Ramen Koji on the 10th floor of Kyoto Isetan for dinner. I ate many delicious sashimi, fresh Shirasu, and many tasty fishes at my parents' house so this trip was truly a gourmet trip.
My wife & son envied me !
