Gifu trip (day 1) 15 August

This year, I had 10 days summer holiday but due to coronavirus pandemic, we abandoned going back to my hometown Shizuoka-city and spent days around my home plus short trip like this.

So we did 2 days short trip to Gifu, about 200km from my home. We used the Goto campaign which the government supported 30% of hotel fees plus coupons equal to 20% of hotel fees(latter had not yet started on that day). We used comfort hotel Gifu which costs 6800 yen per 3 persons (very cheap!) and 2380 yen support by the Goto campaign so we could stay this hotel about 4400 yen!

So we left home at 10:30 am and had driven to Sekigahara which was our first destination. Before there, we ate lunch at Oomi donmaru. It tastes good and the price is low (my donburi costs 600 yen).

Eating lunch, we went to Sekigahara where a big battle was done around the year 1600.

This day was very hot, the temperature was around 38 Celsius so when we climbed up the hill, I was exhausted.

There are several points to watch but we limited 3 points due to heavy hot temperatures.

Then we went to Gifu city to see Gifu castle. Below is the Gifu castle, which is above the kinkazan mountain.

This castle was closed at 5:30 PM and we had got the 5:00 PM cable car which might be the last one to enter the castle.

This castle is beautiful and we can watch around Gifu city. It's amazing such a big castle at the top of the mountain was built around the 16th century.

There is a sightseeing tower at the cable car station. Very splendid prospect!

At the entrance station of the cable car, there is a wax doll of Saito Dozan. The NHK drama "kirin ga kuru" is now very popular around japan and my wife like this drama very much. She planed this Gifu trip because there are many places related to this drama.

And the first day was over.
